Louis Vialenc Nursing Home

The construction of a nursing home in the heart of Gustavia was one of the largest projects ever completed on Saint-Barthélemy. It began with demolition of existing properties on an entire city block and continued with the design and construction of a new three story multi-use facility. The complicated program included an assisted living facility for senior citizens (30 bedrooms with communal spaces), 8 apartments and a subterranean parking garage. Also, an extension of the neighboring hospital with medical imagery center, 4 bedrooms for on-call doctors and storage was merged into the building program.

Construction cost was 15 000 000 € for approximately 5,000 square meters (53,800 square feet) of construction. The excavation was 15,000 cubic meters (529,700 cubic feet) of very hard blue stone (microdiorite quartzite).
