The renovation modernized all aspects of the villa, both technically and stylistically. Interior walls were removed to create an open-floor plan and the subtle modern material palette includes polished concrete, wood siding and ipe decking. The effect was to complement the simplicity of the traditional building forms rather than overpower them.

In addition to the renovated interiors, Villa Pastels makes full use of its property with many exterior programmed spaces. Beyond the typical swimming pool & terrace, there are exterior cooking & dining areas, a pétanque court, a table-tennis court and a louvered ajoupé for lounging in naturally-cooled comfort.
